About Me
I’m Christopher Lochan, a Osteopathic Manual Practitioner dedicated to relieving stress, pain, and enhancing athletic performance. My passion is providing effective chronic pain relief for individuals of all ages, including seniors, children, athletes and desk workers.
I hold an honors Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, specializing in Neuropsychology and Genetics Biology. My training includes Diploma of Massage Therapy at Sutherland-Chan and specialization in Visceral, Cranial, and Orthopedic Osteopathy from the National Academy of Osteopathy where I received the title of DOMP.
With over a decade of experience, I focus on pain management through fascial network balancing to improve body structure, posture, and function. My techniques encompass joint mobilizations, stretching, trigger point therapy, and cupping with movement, all aimed at providing long-lasting pain relief.
I have shared my expertise through industry podcasts and workshops for healthcare practitioners, emphasizing effective pain relief strategies. As a former professor of Anatomy and Pathophysiology, I offer comprehensive analyses of pain sources, considering both overall health and specific injuries. My passion in the industry stems from being a lifelong practitioner of martial arts, with many injuries of my own that I have recovered from and continue to maintain, I truly understand the lifelong journey of pain management and improving performance in sports. Understanding the mental health impacts of chronic pain in particular drove me to pursue this path.
OUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
INITIAL EVALUATION
My evaluation consists of an introductory consultation to identify your medical history and pain-related issues, followed by orthopedic, neurological, and range of motion tests to determine the possible causes of your symptoms and to develop an effective pain relief plan.
TREATMENT PHASE
During the treatment phase, I apply personalized techniques tailored to your specific needs and the findings from the previous evaluation, ensuring a customized approach to alleviate your pain and promote recovery. In this phase we will address the main causes of your pain using hands-on techniques and/or exercise therapy.
POST-TREATMENT ASSESSMENT
Retesting the relevant areas, to assess the effectiveness of the treatment will help us fine tune future visits. Home care exercises, hydrotherapy, stretches and ergonomic advice may be given as well. We then can schedule a follow-up appointment to proceed with the treatment plan and ensure ongoing pain relief.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
A specialized osteopathic technique aimed at releasing tension and tightness in the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles. Specific movements, with hands on pressure and stretching techniques help alleviate pain and improve mobility. This is also a form of dry massage performed by manual therapists and based on the work of Thomas Myers.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Similar to deep tissue massage, shiatsu, acupressure – focused on identifying and addressing specific areas of muscle tension and discomfort known as trigger points. These points are localized areas of hypersensitivity within tight muscle bands and are associated with referred pain patterns. A gentle version may be applied, known as positional release.
PNF & MET
PNF stretching and muscle energy techniques are manual osteopathic technique combining muscle contractions and stretches to improve flexibility and strength. Using post-isometric relaxation and reciprocal inhibition of antagonist groups, this approach helps reduce tension, enhance joint mobility, and restore muscle balance.
IASTM
A specialized technique in osteopathic treatment utilizing instruments to mobilize soft tissues. This method aims to address muscle tightness, scar tissue, and fascial restrictions, promoting improved movement and reduced discomfort. Cyriax frictions using instruments or hands, can help align scar tissue and promote organization of collagen and elastin in various tissue injuries.
JOINT MOBILIZATION
Joint mobilization is a manual osteopathic technique focused on restoring normal movement and function to joints. By applying controlled, finely measured pressure and movements, the practitioner enhances the range of motion and alleviates stiffness. Cavitations (popping sounds) can happen, and are painless.
CUPPING
Within osteopathic practice, cupping involves the strategic placement of cups on the skin, creating suction. myofascial decompression cupping is helpful for areas with multiple layers of muscle and fascia, and can improve the mobility of the fascial tissues. This suction also stimulates blood flow to the area, facilitating the release of tension in muscles.
